Hi guys, my first post here. I learned tons here by searching for answers to most of my questions. I have a 94 in 32 winchester special that I'm casting the Lee 8mm mold for with good success. However I'm on the search for a cheap on lead and powder load. I've found some info on reduced loads but they all are using 170gr pills. Anybody have experience with 100-120gr molds for this rifle? Thanks

Welcome aboard Sreid.

I'm afraid that all my experience with the 32 Special (Winchester Model 64) is with 190 grain boolits. I do have an 8mm Nambu mould (RCBS 8mm-110-RN) that I hope to someday try with the 32 Special. It throws a 110 grain boolit according to RCBS.

Here's what it looks like. I hope to start over a light charge of Bullseye or Red Dot powder for a rabbit or vermin load.

Welcome!
I know exactly what you mean. I've wanted to do the same thing. I found an old Rapine mold that is 150gn, but that's not much of a difference. The rifle is in El Paso and I am in Michigan. So I have not tried it yet.
The 8mm Nabmu, above looks promising though.

I recently got a round ball mold that casts a .323 bullet. I cast some but haven't loaded any yet. I mainly wanted it for a .32-40 single shot, I doubt you could get it to feed in a lever gun.

That nambu looks promising, and I found some molds on the accurate site that fit the bill too. I've searched high and low for some info on light bullets in this calibre but it is pretty scarce. With the state of the Canadian dollar right now I'd like to find some good results before I drop the coin and order a mold. If Lee had something along those lines I'd just grab one to try. Thanks for the info so far guys
Steve

Not so much savings on the lead but you can always just shoot the lee 175 without the gc over 5 -6 grs of bullseye , one of my favorite loads . Price of a new lightweight mould for it would be the same or more as a pound of bullseye and you can shoot lots of those 175 gr bullets with a single pound

Have you looked at the NOE 321008? Powdercoated and sized to 322, they shoot fine in my friends 32 WS.

Next is to PC and size to 324 for my Yugo 8mm.

Haven't tried a light boolit. I shoot 170 grain cast boolits in my 32 WS using loads from the Lyman Cast bullet handbook (3rd edition) and they work very nicely

Maybe you could beagle a 32 20 mold.

Send an email to Al at NOE and see if he can suggest a mold for you. I just bought a 311-115 RN from him to use in my Win. 94 for light loads to replicate the small game loads that were originally offered in 30-30. Perhaps he can suggest a mold in the size you need that would be similar?

I have the same mold that Scharfschuetze shows - the RCBS 8mm Nambu. They are a very pricey mold if purchased new fut that particular boolit should size down for the 32 W and work fine. I bought it to use in my old 1905 Danzig GEW98 8mm Mauser and it works great for light loads. I'm still playing with it and have more work to do with it when I get back to MI next month. I have been using it over Red Dot. I plan on using Red Dot with the 311-115 RN boolit that I got the mold for from Al at NOE.

sreid - it will be a while before I get back to MI and get some casting done but I've made a note and will contact you when I can get some cast up (RCBS 8mm Nambu) and send you some to try out.

If you find something that works, you could always have Accurate make you up a mold as well. I haven't looked, but check their site to see what they have that might work or drop them an e-mail and ask. Good luck with your journey - light loads are fun to play with . . . .

Welcome to the forum! My plinker 32WS load uses a full-weight 322170A boolit from Accurate and 8.5 Universal.
A light boolit sounds interesting, hope you'll keep us posted on your results.

sreid: I can send you a few of the aforementioned NOE 321008's. Powdercoated, checked and sized to .322, they weigh 133 gr. I used the data listed in the lyman 45th edition for 137 cast. Starting loads of about 1500 fps worked fine in my friends 32 win spl.

noe makes a 140gr 8mm mold that can be plain based or used without the gas check.
mine makes 324 easily and is great just tumble lubed from the mold for the 32 W.S.
the 32 win will easily chamber 324.
4-5grs of bulls-eye or whatever is close titegroup/700-x/red-dot/clays will poke them out the barrel
easy enough, and the top t/l groove will take a roll crimp and feed no problem.
I use this mold and another one I have interchangeably between the 32 Win and 8 mauser.
