It was a darn nice day today so i decided to break out all 5 of my TC molds, the 2 on top are Maxi Hunters, the hunter on the left is from forum member Bardo, that mold casts a 437 grain average, the hunter on the right is a brand new mold i took out of the package, it casts an average weight of 460 grains. The bottom bullets are Maxi balls, the bullet on the left is from the mold i got from forum member Newton, it casts an average weight of 435 grains, the middle bullet is from another brand new mold i took out of the package, it casts an average weight of 418 grains, and the bottom right is my latest addition, i got this mold brand new as well, it was in a little box and says 400 grain maxi, it casts an average weight of 413 grains and is identical to the old bullets our deceased friend casted years ago, the one that started all of this! I casted 50 of each and kept the ones that were within 1 grain of eachother. Time to head for the sand pit the next nice day and throw some down range!

Nice - I just made a minor score at the range today and picked up these for $20. I don't have a .54 yet, but I will probably start assembling parts for one later in the year...

You scored on those molds for 20 bucks! TC made 3 different maxi ball and 2 different Maxi hunter molds for the .54 Cal, i was able to obtain all 5 of them but definitely not for 20 bucks! Congrats on them!

Those are some slick lookin slugs. I have the mold that casts the bottom left in 50 and 54 cal. And a lyman that casts like the bottom middle one.

I am very interested in how these older style maxi-balls shoot.

Triggerhappy243, i havnt been out with muzzle stuffers in a long time, been putting most of my spare time in a centerfire project (load development 6.5 Creedmoor) and leupold CDS scope. Deer and Elk season just opened the 10th, i filled my elk tag the 11th, now gonna work on getting a nice whitetail buck! I will get back out with my muzzleloader stuff sometime in December, i have 5 different TC Maxi Ball and Maxi Hunter molds, and plenty of bullets poured from each for testing.

I may well be waaay out in left field on this, as I have never seen a Maxi that looks like the one on the top right, but for some reason, I have always thought that may well be the very best of all the Maxi designs.

I would like to hear more on this, when you get around to it.

Thanks, Russ
