In the past couple of weeks, I've gotten notices from Midway that they are no longer carrying Winchester or Remington brass for 44 Special. They sent out an email saying Winchester brass has been discontinued. Today, the same notice came saying the same thing about Remington. They apparently are still going to sell Starline and Hornady. What's happening? I've got plenty on hand for now, but having two munitions maker discontinue the same caliber is worrisome. What's going to be next?

My order from Midway just came today. I ordered a 100 rounds of Starline 44 special. Haven't heard about that issue With Rem and Win brass though. That would really suck if others follow suit.

Looks to me like Winchester is getting out of the brass business. Already knew about 25-20, 218 bee, 32-40, 375, 444 and now 44 special...

And 257 Roberts... And many more I'm sure.

Meh...as long as Starline stays in business we'll all be fine. I like their brass much better than the big guys'.

Starline IS good stuff. As for the Big Makers, little has changed--for 7-8 years their wares have been been impossible to find anyway--both they and we adapted to that condition, and now they admit to having done so. Time to adopt case-forming and annealing into your regimen if you haven't already done so.

I bought my last Winchester brass several years ago. I purchased 100 new 6.5x55 Winchester cases and wound up scrapping 8 of them. One case did not have an extractor grove. I buy Starline as much as I can. Like everyone else I wish they made more rifle brass.

I'd imagine Starline is putting a serious hurt on W-W and R-P's brass business. I have lots of Starline .44 Special brass and couldn't care less if the others ever made it again. they made their beds IMHO.

BINGO!

And, I opened one of my bags of new W-W 22 Hornet brass the other day and was looking at them...some of them were so short that I just threw them away without even measuring...just eyeballing them.
