Wrong handguard, pitted, reblued......bought it anyway. El Salvador rolling block.
Surprisingly the bore is very good.

So you probably already know about the RB 7 X 57 dimensions vs Saami?? I had a RB in 7 X 57 many years ago. Had BATJAC stamped into the buttstock. Was told this was John Wayne's movie company. Rifle was so rusty a gunsmith said he would not dare rebarrel it so I sold it.
Do have one of the Swede 1867 and a Pedersoli Creedmore in 40-65. I prefer the Swede. Also have my uncle's #4 in 22lr.
Just wish they had not gotten so expensive.
Hope it turnas out to be a good shooter for you.

Yeah, without a doubt a very rare gun. I keep an eye open but don't remember having ever seen a 1897 El Savadorian contract rolling block (well the rear sight makes me think m1897 but the crest says 1902, a generic m1902 has a flatter rear sight). I would of expected it to be in much worse condition. Central American contract rolling blocks and Mausers are notorious for being found in abysmal condition and having very poor survival rates. Incredible that this one some how slipped thru the cracks in this level of preservation. In my opinion, a treasure.
