Got a question. I use a hard blu lube (rooster I think) on my 330 hp gould 45-70 boolits. Works good. Made up some 60/40 beeswax/vasoline to use on a 357 180 gr gc group buy boolit. Works good both in my 357 rifle and pistol. I pan lube and use a lee sizer. Any reason that this lube wouldn't work in the 45-70? velocity is 1450 fps using imr 4198.

Try it and see.
My hypothesis is that if it works well in the .357, it'll work fine in the .45-70 at a much lower pressure and at a lower velocity than the .357 rifle (not far from the .357 pistol's velocity range.) Shouldn't be as demanding on the lube, I think.
Similar soft greasy lubes were in vogue when the Gould boolit came along.

Your homeade will prevent leading.........however..........I personally would let accuracy be the deciding factor. Ask professor gun he will tell you what he likes.
