a member of cast boolits is makeing a muzzleloader out of a machinegun barrel. it is 1/15 twist and 36 inches long. odd number lands and grooves. anyone know what the top of the lands bore diam is? its hard to measure with the odd number of lands and grooves. it would be helpful in ordering the reducing die for paperpatching a bullet for it.

blanket, thats probably to the bottom of the grooves. ive done some more research as the owner of the barrel and the top of the lands diam should be .501. thanks for your interest.

If you can find a set of pin gages they will be usefull in measuring the bore dia or top of lands. Find the one that goes and the next one that wont. It will give a very close idea unless there is alot of wer on the ends of the tube, Ideally the pin gage that just goes should slide thru the length of the barrel.

That will be one fast twist for a ML. I wonder how it will shoot? Long boolits should be easy. RB not so much.

Man alive, I was about to say the same thing. I don't think he's going to be too happy with that twist for a ML. It will be hard on the shoulder by the time it starts to shoot well. I hope there is a solid plan here and am interested in the outcome for sure.
