A friend and I were talking fairly recently, and he asked me if I'd seen the sunset the night before, and spoke of how beautiful and wondrous it was to him. I'd noticed it too, as I usually do, and affirmed his own comments about it. He then said that most folks today are too busy to even notice all the free and wondrous things we have been given, and about how sad it was that we've allowed ourselves to come to that. All I could do is second his little missive on the matter.

And it's true. We miss so very much in life, in our pursuit of the almighty dollar. We take so many, many things for granted, and then have the temerity to act surprised if and when they're taken from us. Are we "moderns" a willful and obsessive lot, who focus on the temporal while letting the eternal go, or what?

So I thought I'd post this little pic in hopes some would appreciate it, and remember to take note of the beauty that surrounds us all, even in this evil oriented world we have now. Hope you enjoy it, and noted the "cross" on the water. It's a daily occurance over water in many places. And it's always beautiful. Don't miss it next time you have a chance to see one.

Living back in the holler we don't see the sun out till 9:00 AM and the sun goes behind the ridge about 5:00 PM. Having been raised in Indiana I really miss seeing both. I did see some beautiful sunrises and sun sets while riding the waves in the Navy. Gentlemen those are real nice to look at.

Ah yes! Sunrises and sets at sea! What a moving sight! I'll never forget them. The incredibly blue and clear water, shining like plate glass on a quiet morning or eve, the sun, the colors, and any clouds that make for even more colors .... simply awe inspiring! Even some crusty old tars could be humbled by them. Thanks for the great memories!
