Barf! What happened to that poor barrel. Mine has seen 100% hand loaded bullets. Somewhere around 1500 bullets and it has been cleaned three times. I use the Lee 200gr SWC mould. And my b0arrel looks nothing like that at all. .I have basically zero leading. And a tiny bit powder flecks. I am using CFE pistol with great success.

Looks like a combo of uncured powder and dirty burning light loads.

Then again I am looking at this on a 8" tablet in my reloading room.

Residue, not lead. I see nothing of concern.

If you're trying an new load (or an old load in a new pistol) it might be a good idea to check the barrel a bit more frequently.

I can't tell which is the lands and which are the grooves in that picture.
push a patch down there.
if there's stuff in it I'd suspect the powder coat hasn't been cooked enough.

My Ruger SS barrel looked like that until I shot several hundred rounds through it.Now it has cleaned up and the barrel is nice and shiny. It seems that the SS barrel was just harder to break in.

How soft is soft? Could be pc is not cured enough or the pressure was too high for the alloy. Clean it to determine what is in the barrel then a plan can be made to prevent this from happening again.

Push a dry patch through it first, then look at it.

Need more specific info on the load. Powder/charge weight? Boolit design/size? Alloy mix? I cast 200 gr. RNFPs from a fairly soft alloy (2 parts range scrap to 1 part COWW - air cooled) then PC with HF Red for my Marlin 1894 (MG) with, essentially, no fouling or leading. Put 100 rounds through it yesterday afternoon and, after a couple passes with a wet patch (Hoppe's #9), the fourth dry patch came out clean and left the bore shining like a new dime.

Looks like it just came from the range. Why don't you run a few patches through it and then post a pic...

I was loading some really light loads in my Ruger SS and it looked that way. Once again like others have said give it a patch and show us again.

Even a dry patch would probably clean that out. It also means that the lands and grooves are not getting coated with a film of residue and each subsequent bullet is blasting that stuff out and leaving it's own trail of stuff.

One push through with a wadded up dry piece of paper towel

I don't think that's too bad. Try running a dry patch through it. If that doesn't work try a mild cleaner to get rid of the carbon fouling. If that doesn't work try something more aggressive, but I'd be surprised if you need to go that far.

I've never had any leading after shooting 200+ powder coated rounds in an outing.

That last picture looks pretty clean…"what is the complaint?"

He's not the original poster. I think he was just illustrating what a simple patch can do for a "dirty/fouled barrel"

wurgerburger, from what I can see on my smartphone and tablet shows dirty and unburned powder. Doesnt look like a concern to me. More details would be helpful.

agree on need for more data. PC with Smoke's powder at low velocity and looks a bit like that. Unburned powder for good old dirty Red Dot. Comes out with a dry patch

let us know so we can give you a hand

Some oil and boresnake and it's squeky clean.

N320, light load (pf 160 or so, 230gr Lee RN bullets).

No lead. Just black residue.

Moving to N340 on soft lead 45 probably also, for logistical reasons among other things. In Finland we cannot legally and easily store many kinds of gunpowders because of idiotic laws. The situation improved drastically last year but still, talking of 2-5kg total in residential area.

glad to hear. If it shoots well, keep shooting. When able to get more powder get something a little faster burning for your light loads.

Just clean it after shooting when clean it is OK IMHO nothing shoots absolutely clean and not cleaning is the problem. Seems many want it to clean itself.

Remember never ever carry a handgun for self protection that is not clean. It will show "your" gun has not been fired. This was taught to me in training at the academy.

Don't ever trust anyone but yourself on that.
