I did a search about slugging a barrel and found only one thread about measuring a slug with an odd number of grooves and lands. It gave no definitive answer about measuring.
Can anyone tell me how to do this without using industrial strength measuring tools that I can't afford? I'm trying to measure a slug from a M&P shield barrel in 40 cal.
Thanks in advance.

Here you go. For some reason my searching actually came up with the answer.
If you are good with a protractor, scribe and a file, you could make your own vee block.

I cut a strip of soda can. Measure thickness. Wrap tight around bullet. Dont over lap. Measure. Subtract strip thickness. It will be very close to groove dia..

Thanks so much! I must have searched the wrong wording. I have bookmarked the page.

This comes up enough it should be a sticky.
CDCO has a nice inexpensive V mike for this, works like a champ.
