these is kinda of a test idea. little plastic tube, aluminum rod, couple rubber bands, drill stop, and an old 12v drill.

have few changes I am going to do but it works.
better motor mount
larger single rubber band, or large o ring.
may change out the plastic tube for wood with bearings.

if anyone is wondering, that was an old pyrodex p bottle washed and dried. have a few so I can have a number of them to use.

A coffee can would give you a bit more capacity.

I worked for a large scale ball mill maker for about a decade. Some of our mills were 50 feet in diameter and were driven by 30,000 horsepower motors, weighing 2.5 million pounds loaded, between 12' diameter bearing centers. The smallest were not much bigger than yours, but much more complex. We even had a vertical auger slurry mill model for making martinis...I was a quality auditor and steel products material sourcing manager for them. If you need advice on ball mills, I am your man.

right now it is a working prototype, already did some improvements to it. one big one is a longer slave rod. it slipped out of the bearing 3 times in a 4 hour period, first rod was too short.

going to make a wood frame down the road. also giving me idea for a failed project I had that I may revisit a lot closer then was planning
