Dog has found a few of these in my yard, wants to roll in them, I found one deflated on my chicken coop door, cut the one in the photo open that my daughter found under the rabbit hutch a lighter green slime came out, didn't look like eggs but I have no idea what these are.

Ya know they are about the size of paint balls and when I saw the first one on the chicken coop door I thought the neighbors kids paintballed us, but their sweet kids who don't have paintball guns.

Paintball pellets 68 caliber. Or a fun way to paint the chicken coop if you don't want it to last. The green goo should smell like rancid fish oil if they are.

164502That was my first thought! If your dog has been rolling in them he may not be 'your' dog anymore.

dogs roll in stinky stuff and they don't care if it's a dead fish or cow poop.

it sure looks like a paint ball to me.

You tell your grandkids all sorts of "true" stories, don't you?

Mystery sloved, it was paint balls! I was just finding them when the were old and breaking down before yesterday. This morning there was a fresh one in the chicken yard that didn't break and one on the door...Neighbor kids got paintball guns. I called their father and asked and he said why yes they did, what did they do? I like those kids and the folks, they are new to the area from a big city they did not try to bring the city with them, they've made a real attempt to fit in and be neighborly. Seems the paint balling wasn't so much intentional as no one had the talk with them about knowing your target and what's beyond, and the door shot I write off to a 11 year old boy with all this new found freedom wanting to see paint splat on a white door. We had a talk, like men no shouting or anger, the father assured me it would NOT happen again! I told the boy he could play in the back and I gave him an old barrel to use as a target. I offered to take him shooting and teach him the basics of saftey and marksmanship, his father as well. They said yes, I'd rather teach them right and have good neighbors. Tried to handle this the best way I could, and teach this young man better, and if dad's along for the ride so much the better, maybe I can aid them futher on into becoming country folk, they are good egg customers as well.

Now that is how a MAN handles potential conflict! That is how I taught my kids. By example.

Thanks everyone for the advice, guesses and kind words, now I kinda wish it had been some alien spawn sac, way cooler than paintballs.

as a side note the inside fill (goo) can be any color depends on what the store /dealer ordered..
Its a blend of vegetable oil, baking soda, a colorant and very small amount of sugar based antifreeze (non toxic)
my dogs love to eat them

The fallout from the event seems minimal, the kids are alive and well, using the paintball targets that I provided, the folks are still friendly and still good egg customers and all is well here in Mayberry!

Wait just a darn minute! Are you sure those "neighbors" are human? And not aliens with their greenish eggs?

I would keep a sharp eye on them!

Now that you mentioned it, since they moved in some weird things have been going on, strange interference on our raid on and CB, bright lights in the night sky and they never seem to sleep.
