If I understand the info on these primers the cups are .20 mm thicker then the SP primer. Short of a handgun with soft springs does anyone see why the wouldn't work? Or experience using them in handguns?

Thanks

Used them a LOT. If the striker is strong enough, go for it.

Ok, there is one concern: if your load is super hot, the SR primer MAY make it even hotter..

I have not had a problem using them.

you can but why? the s&b primers around here are all the same price so no cost benefit and the too hot a load may be a drawback.

We use them with full house loads of N110, H110, H4227 in f.e. .357 Mag.

I believe going the other direction is dangerous as the small pistol primers are softer and more likely to rupture from a rifle strike.

I use the SR in my 40 S&W, just because of the higher presure. Going the other way the primer could rupture. This comes up every once in awhile.

Have used the pistol primers in the 40 S&W,357/38 and the 9MM with no problems.
But have not tried the rifle primers in anything but a rifle.

I've had issues with the s&b sr primers. Used a few by mistake in some 9mm cases and my PPQ and g17 wouldn't reliably set them off. Used them with my 1911 22tcm and worked ok. Didn't seat as well in the 22tcm cases, but always fired. I've got a couple of thousands to use up, but I don't plan on replacing with the same..... Cci much better.

Seat them all the way to the bottom of the primer pocket and they'll go off every time.

Hope this helps.

I have had good luck with them. Ordered 5000 and have gone through about half of them. I load progressive and once in a great while I will seat one too deep. I shoot mainly revolvers and when you have one that doesn't go the first time you will find out if you are flinching of jerking the trigger. All my stuff is practice ammo,38 special.

Nope, I had several that I had to hit twice, and two that never went off, deep as everything else, and I've never had a cci do this. I'll use them up and buy more expensive primers:)

I will only use S&B SP primers in practice ammo....had as many a two out of fifty, failure to fire, in 38 Spl.... using three different handguns, none of which had springs replaced.
