I have a Ruger frontier rifle in 358 winchester and I have noticed that the diameter of the barrel is exacly the same has my ruger no 1 in 4570..... that is both are .670.... so I will buy from brownell the front sight and put it on the frontier and use has a peep sight the NECG rear peep.... what I woul like to know is glueing this sight on will it be ok or you have a better idea..... I have phoned Ruger and they said to me that the front sight is lock with a set screw and sweated on.....if glue will do please give me the name....thank you for your time Canuck....

The screw is to hold the sight in position while it is "sweated" (soldered) on. Silver solder is usually the solder of choice. I don't know if a glue would work. Ventilated ribs on shotguns used to (not all of them) be glued on with a thing called Poly Choke adhesive. Worked fine for me for a rib on a bull barrel .38, but I never tried it on anything else.

I had the sight off of a 357 B'hawk and put it back with JB Weld, it has held for a year now.

I have several rifles ( 06', 308 Win. 8 mm's , etc ) with front sights put on with JB Weld. Never moved a millionth of an inch since installation.

Better be " Dog Gone Certain " that your sight is in perfect alignment during the installation process. Once the JB Weld is hardened, you won't be moving anything ! ! !
