Hello,

Assuming a 280gr Keith bullet in a Rossi R92 at 40Kpsi, would a powder coated plain base bullet (BHN 18) benefit from being lubed? Or will I need a GC design? I just hope to use the same RCBS 44-270-SAA in revolver at 875fps (BHN 8-10) and rifle at high speed...
Thanks,
Gil

Don't know what revolver you have but with my New vaquero 45 Colt I'm running the RCBS 45-270-SSA at 901 fps using Unique. These are plain base casts from wheel weights at about 11 BHN and powder coated. From the rifle these same loads run 1095 fps. Upping the charge with IMR4227 I'm clocking 1446 fps from the rifle. All of the mention loads are very accurate and no leading what so ever. BTW...everyone claims their mold drops these casts at 280 grains but my mold using air cooled wheel weights with a little tin added drops at exactly 270 grains plus or minus 1 grain.

I shoot all weights of PB 45's in my Rossi levers with no problem. A GC is not needed unless you are concerned about uber-accuracy with a "true flat" base.

Out to 60 yards, my boolits pretty much land where ever I set the iron sites!

I love the lever 45LC's and 38/357's also. Most accuracte levers I have ever shot.

Today I load only ETR7 powder to Titegroup load specs.

Hardness: with PC, I do not worry about it any more.......9-12 does it for all my subsonic loads.
