At last a great load for my M&P SW 38 special, gun was made in 1922.Used 148 gr HBWC with 1.9 grs of titegroup. and a mild roll crimp. Shoots very tight groups ,even with a bad elbow and old eyes.

Love posts about old guns doing what they were meant to do.

"Heck jim44-40…All my .38's shoot in the same hole on the 'X'…I just can't proove it because the muzzle flash keep setting the target paper on fire!"

That had me laughing!

My S&Ws have always shot pretty well with most loads, but the classic 2.7 grains of Bulleseye under the 148gr HBWC has always proven itself to be a wining load from local through state level matches.

I have a couple of pounds of Tightgroup powder so I'll give your load a try the next time I'm set up to load 38 Specials.

I had a commercial loader load up 5000 rounds of 38 special with 148 wad cutters. He used 2.5 grains of tight group. Nice easy load for the wife and daughter.

I'll second that.
