45-70 dies...Difference

Now that I have a new to me 45-70 I'm getting things ready to load for them. I have a 3 die set but a member mentioned that the cowboy dies use a different size expander to accommodate the larger diameter cast boolits.

The 1 I have measures .4568 with my micrometers, now what size is the cowboy expander?

My CB dies measure exactly the same as standard dies. The only difference is finish color and a brass lock ring..

I don't have a 45-70 set Matt but all my cowboy pistol dies came with two expander stems.

Hi, just measured the expander die on my 45-70 cowboy set, there's a section that is .454, then it tapers up to .462. Says there designed to allow seating of lead boolits without shaving lead. Dave
