One of the guys here turned me on to the 6-hole Lee C358-158-SWC mold. Whoever it was, thanks!!! If you'll fess up I'll thank you in the article I'll eventually write. Somehow or other, I've been overlooking that mold in catalogs.

The mold is one of the easy ones to cast with. The bullets fall out like buttered. They're an absolutely uniform .360" as cast in AC ww alloy. My Lee 10 lb pot filled plenty full gave me 326 bullets.

Average weight with a gator check and LLA, two coats, and sized .358" = 167 grs. I'm pushing them in my 20", 1 - 38" twist, Rossi at an est 1775 fps with 15.2 grs Lil'Gun for maybe a 98% Loading Density. I might tweak my Lyman measure for 15.4 grs or so on the next loading session, but, then again, maybe I won't.

I haven't benched them yet, and probably won't, but from a side of a tree rest and with the rifle's homemade peep, I can put 5 all in a 4 3/4" bullseye at 30 yards.

I went on a photo expedition in the deep woods this morning, and I took the Rossi as usual. Thought maybe I'd see a hog but didn't. No photos either. It was an overcast morning, and due to that and the thick canopy of leaves, the woods were as dark as night.

Scrounger, believe it or not that very line went through my mind this morning in those dark and deep woods!!

Junior,

I really enjoy your site http://www.castbullet.com/ and reading all the very informative articles contained therein. Please keep on adding to it...

Scrounger,

That is one very true signature line you have there and it gives one pause for thought.

It feeds OK w/ SWC's ? My experience with lever guns is they like round nose bullets best . SWC's so-so to not at all .

They seem to feed SWC's best if the lever is cycled violently .

God bless

Mine feeds SWCs just fine in slow mode or fast mode. That includes the L-C 158 SWC, the Lee 358-158-SWC & C358-158-SWC, the RCBS 38-158-F, and the GB 180-FP.

Junior, my Rossi 44 magnum (EMF rifle) feeds semiwadcutters just fine and dandy as well. In fact, that's the only lead-bullet design I've ever shot out of it since I got it. I'm thinking about a .357 carbine now--probably Rossi, after reading all of the posts about the infamous "Marlin jam".
