These are old publications by the Imperial Type Metal Co. but I have found them to be very useful in understanding more about how these alloys behave. The first one is called "Type Metal Explained" and can be found here: https://books.google.com/books?id=p6IWAAAAYAAJ&pg=PP2&lpg=PP2&dq=type+metal+explained&source=bl&ots=FnfMyf0emz&sig=PCgH_7sxPE5-7gTfcXHb1oc54VQ&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjnhIy4osTLAhUUwWMKHZoIDh0Q6AEIODAG#v=on epage&q=type%20metal%20explained&f=false
The second one, also by Imperial is called "Type Metal Alloys" and can be found at: http://digicoll.library.wisc.edu/cgi-bin/SilverBuckle/SilverBuckle-idx?id=SilverBuckle.TypeMetalAlloys
I thought they were fascinating reads about this now-obsolete craft.
