I picked up a few surplus Beretta 92's from surplus and they have the heel magazine release and all the magazines we bought cheap a while back are American style with the top release. I got busy and made a jig for the mill so I could slap them in and mill them out quick. I can strip convert and reassemble a mag in about 5 minutes. If any forum members are in a similar situation I will convert and test your mags for $3.00 each. Or if you have a machine I will send ou a photo of my set up.
By the by the Berettas we have gotten so far show very little wear and the bores are perfect. According to code BU and BZ they are early 2000 manufacture. They feed any hollow points we have tried and they shoot great and for less than 1/2 of a new 92FS I can limp along with a heel release.
