Neighbor asked me if he could shoot PP in his 50 Cal ML in CO... I know 50 is min, but am clueless if they allow a PP bullet where the bullet itself is less than .500"... Can someone help me out here?

Kindest regards,

im sure a bullet patched to .498 is considered a 50 cal bullet. if one is a little nervous carry a bare bullet that is .50 with them and if asked what is in the gun give them a lead 50 cal bullet with lee alox on it and how do they know what is down the barrel. i know a local man who took a nice elk cow with his 50 cal round ball long gun in colorado and that ball isnt a true 50. it was either .490 or .495. a .492 patched to .498 is a 50 cal bullet. tell him to have fun and get a good elk.

Here in Idaho how they do it is, the bullet must be no more than .010 under the bore. They consider the bore what is written on the barrel so if it says 50 cal the bullet can be .490 and be legal. I have sold many bullets to guys heading for Colorado and they all told me they were legal.
