I'll be trying to form 410 out of 303 as painless as possible, I've expanded the necks to 375 and plan to use .375RB Now I'm wondering if black might have sharper punch to get it done?
Any thoughts? Aaron

If I understand you correctly you are making straight cases out of 303 Brit for something like 40-50 SS or 40-60 Maynard right?
If that is the case- pun, I know - I agree with post #2.

I've done hundreds. You can anneal first but I have not using 30-40 Krag cases and NO losses.
Any old primer - but not a used one:oops:
Some fast pistol powder - I used Clays but Bullseye or what ever you can spare. 6 grains worked for me. I used Krag cases with no prep - no expanding and went to 40 cal in one shot. 98-99% formed. Then the first loading with a .409" bullet and Black Powder did the last bit.

After 6 grs powder I filled the case with corn meal and a plug of old bullet lube or paraffin or soap or anything to keep the cornmeal in the case and not make a mess from the reloading room to the location you fire them and, .... as said, shoot them into the sky.

The smell of it makes you want to go home and eat corn bread.

Easy....
