Got a few items, 10 lb production pot..2 Lyman 2 cavity .45 200 swc mold some PC supplies on the way from smoke. Just need lead and tons more reading here.

Time to start the scrounge here in Michigan for lead!

Look forward to tons of great reading

Dont do any acting about it jump right in and start CASTING. It might be easier to start with a known alloy in clean ingots from roto metals or other supplier. Starting with a known alloy like lyman #2 ( known to cast well and fill out) may save alot of issues at first. Welcome to the site and enjoy

13 miles west of the capital. The fast track is to get someone to let you come and cast with them! I have and will help get someone started. Fun for both.

Owosso area. Just getting started myself. Havent bought a furnace yet but have my Dad's old pot and a mold plus a bunch of lead. There is a guy in Durand that is selling lead that is supposed to be pretty good. $25 for just over 30#. He sells on eBay with starting bid of $20 plus $10 shipping.

Few miles west of Fowlerville. Pretty close to nagantguy. Might be kind of fun to do lunch after an area gun show some Saturday. Mason, Novi or Grand Rapids all have them on a fairly regular basis. Flint too as I recall.

Maybe start a thread when gun show in area and invite folks to meet at a nearby restaurant at a certain time. Met chuckbuster at the Mason show once and it was nice having good company in the line waiting to get in. Obama was getting set to announce his new initiative on guns so the line was longer than usual. Lot longer come to think of it. :-)

Yep I was planning to go to the Mason Show for April fools day weekend. I saw DonDieago in Ann Arbor on Saturday and mentioned this thread, he had not seen it but had an idea that I liked of meeting for a range trip to do a little shooting. Might be a bit more work to get organized than a trip to a gun show but also might help make the drive worthwhile.

Can't really visit at a gun show, would probably have to meet up at a restaurant or something afterward to visit much. Might not find anything to buy at a gun show, on the other hand a trip to the range is always fun and I think it is safe to assume forum members would have ammo :-)

Will talk to the pres at the club and see if I can get us a range. Will probably have to share with the members but most of the time there,s not many. I think if I ask for a 25yd range should have no problem

I know some folks that live over that way, will ask them if they can suggest a place like Big Boy or similar. Here is the shows page, along with a map and address to run though mapquest or sites for driving directions.

http://www.migunshows.com/maspage.html - oops posted without the link. Think maybe today would be a good day to polish brass rather than load magnums with titegroup. I'm full of dumb mistakes today.

Coming in off of I-127 it is a straight shot east on Kipp road to the fair grounds a few miles down Kipp. There is a sign for the fairgrounds gate on Kipp but the building itself is on the north side of the grounds and Kipp rd. is the south side gate. Parking is free.

Welcome.

Grew up in Standish, lived in St Charles, Owosso, and Midland during and shortly after college. Left about 7 years ago for the west and make it back maybe once a year and spilt time between Hemlock and Standish....miss the water sometimes but all the trees and people make me claustrophobic now.

Darby,s think is the name of a small bar. Great food and beer if you want.

Darb's has pretty decent reviews from what I could find online.
http://www.darbstavern.com/menu.php

It is pretty close to the fair grounds and has a fairly straight shot back to the freeway.
https://www.google.com/maps/place/Darb's+Tavern+%26+Eatery/@42.5794725,-84.4545652,15z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x8822c55b0d8f8fa7:0x491a8625fdccf d8?hl=en

I figure hard to go wrong at a place that serves deep fried blue gills. Maybe pick a time and day or even just time, people can come before they go to the show, after or as a break since you can get back in on the same day with the hand stamp.

I'm thinking Saturday either lunch time or maybe early afternoon? Folks that come to show in the morning can have lunch before heading home, people who want to do the show in the afternoon can come a little early and have lunch before going to the show.

I started a poll and thread just for meeting at Darb's Tavern for a meet and greet. Vote for when you think you can make it for a little snacking and taking in a gun show.

From the Thumb. Welcome

I grew up in the Thumb, Vassar area, and now live 15 minutes north of Flint. I do hunt up in Huron county on my mother in law's farmland there. Bit of a drive so most of my hunting is either Vassar/Millington area or Silverwood/Mayville area past couple years.
