No idea if it is legit or not; but the technology for barrel lining did exist then.

They did it with cannon but I have no knowledge of it's use in rifles. I did find this http://americanlongrifles.org/forum/index.php?topic=1063.0

The first trap door Springfields were lined from 58 caliber down to 50

Yes but not a brass barrel. I shoot one of the 1866 lined 50-70 rifle.

Never read or heard of a steel lined brass barrel in a military gun for the civil war USA.

saw a picture of the barrel. very heavy wall, 26 inches long and weighs 10 pounds. the muzzle was made for a machined starter. was a target gun barrel and has a breech plug with a snail for the nipple. he got it for 60 dollars. allen doesnt care if it has a good bore or not, just wants it in his collection of things from days gone by. allen has a lot of other stuff also. a tommahawk from the south east coast that is worth a lot of money. he is a master craftsman him self. makes museum quality bowie knives and museum quality tommahawks. sold a tommahawk to robin wiilliams before he passed. we wonder who made this barrel?
