An on line auction ended last night near here. An item of interest listed was an Lee Enfield No4Mk1F (FTR) `US PROPERTY` marked in pretty nice looking shape by the pics. The final price was $400 for the rifle + 10% auction commision and then 6% sales tax. Can`t say I`ve seen a `US PROPERTY` marked No4 marked this was with a letter F and not an *.Robert

It's a Lend Lease rifle made by Savage. There should be S in a square markings on it in various places.

The FTR stands for "Factory Through Repair" which means it was serviced and worked on at an armory.

It's a Savage No.4Mk1 rifle that went through Factory Thorough Repair (i.e., rebuild) at Fazakerly (F) rifle factory. If in fact there was never a star (*) after the Mk1 that was obliterated during rebuild, it is an early savage rifle.
