I got a 336W a while back and I havent been able to shoot it yet and Im getting ready to head to the range after I reload a bit. I took a look at the rifle and the the rear sight looks a bit weird. Instead of a notch its just a flat block. Is this how its supposed to be? I took a picture but Im having trouble posting it. there is a notch but its parallel to the barrel so all you can see is a lock instead of the notch.

I found out it was just folded down. Im sorry for asking a stupid question.

Don't sweat it. We all have done it once or twice.

James, if you get a chance, get a good Receiver/peep sight. The Marlin rear sight works, but.....yuk.

Don't feel bad, I have an old Winchester that I have to look twice to see the tiny notch. As open rear sights go the Marlin is a pretty good one but nowadays I need a receiver, tang or optical sight.

Get a slot blank and a Lyman 66. Your eyes will thank you!

Aperture sights really are the cat's meow on lever guns.
With the fold down sight on your Marlin, you don't even have to remove it to use an aperture sight.
