It's always extra touching when we find one of those who's put their lives on the line for us in such a condition, but it comes to all of us, sooner or later. I pray that his passage through the Great Veil be as painless and sweet as it can possibly be. Chief Deputy involves not only law enforcement, but judgment in the politics and community relations that are always so difficult to deal with, MUCH moreso than just dealing with the bad guys. Prayers up for him and his family and friends for a good and meaningful transition.
