I bought my Dad a Lee 200gr RF bullet mold and bullet sizer kit. I think it is .452 caliber. I got the RF instead of the SWC because of comments on SWC bullets and the XD.
He has a lot of wheel weights. He made about a mason jar of these. He said he re-cast about 10% of them. I told them from my reading, that is pretty good. He used pure wheel weights with pea-size of paraffin to clean up the lead.
He has never cast boolits before, but has years of experience casting sinkers and such.
We want to shoot these in Springfield M1911-A1 (stainless, loaded Government model) and a Springfield XD45 Service. These are slightly used, prolly <1000 rounds through them.
I have reloaded about 500 or so 45ACP with FMJ and JHP bullets from 700-1000fps with w231 and Power Pistol. I have a lot of primers, mostly WLP. For 45ACP, I use Winchester and Remington brass.
Typically, I use 4.6gr - 5.3gr W231 for my 230gr JHP and FMJ.
What load do ya'll recommend for a first-timer?
Much Thanks.
