I know that several of you guys use this boolit, so how deep are you seating them? Thanks for any input!162374

1.172 works for me. I was running them longer, about like yours, but a Springfield didn't like it and it is easier to make em all 1 length.
These are seated at 1.210", and I wanna produce something that will feed is most 45's.

Good info. Thanks!
I saw in another forum, where someone said that the Lyman 4th casting book shows this particular boolit to have a seating depth of 1.170". Can anyone confirm this for me?

I have heard that length recommended before. I just plunked my shortest chamber and 1.172 is what they wind up being.

That's correct , page 278.And that has worked in all of mine, with a small squeeze from a Lee FCD.

Awesome! I have a few books now, but not that one. It looks like it would be a good one to pick up. I know how to do a plunk test, but I wanna produce a load that should work well in multiple firearms. Thanks for the help.

I've found this very handy. I was afraid I was seating thenm too short to function.

Thanks for that! I think I'm gonna try that power pistol data, since I have a pound of it laying around.

Yup, 1.17" for me. I don't have to size them. Just cast and tumble lube. The entire 0.452" part (which drops at 0.453"-0.454" for me) sits under the rim.

The feed and shoot perfectly in my old and very picky AutoOrdnance 1911.
Nice pic^^^ I seated some of these to 1.17" last night, and that will seat them to the very top of the top driving band.

Be sure to try the "ker plunk" test with your new reload. That will ensure that it'll feed in your pistol. I have the regular lube groove mold and have to seat mine to 1.145" for proper function.
