I was reading that the 452 228 mold was too big at the nose and needed to be seated deeper than spec, any thoughts?
Also, what do you guys recommend for a 230ish 45acp mold and why? Thanks for the help.

That was true in my case, I have to seat them deeper than I expected to get them to feed/chamber properly. I recommend the Lee 230 gr. truncated cone, it works well in my .45 ACP's.

I love Lee's tl 230-.452 tc in acp and colt both. I have shot em tumbled in 45-45-10 or pc'd and they work equally well. Accurate and hit like a sledge, and seat em with just a hair of shoulder showing and they feed in the 5 auto's I have loaded for.

The 230 TC works good. But I much rather the Hardline 230gn RN Bevel Base. Shame they no longer exist.
The Accurate Molds 45-230MZ is also a very good bullet in 45ACP.

Another vote for the Lee 452-230 TC. I size to .452" with a Lee push thru sizer and tumble lube with Ben's Liquid Lube (BLL). Quick, fast and easy with no leading. Gives great accuracy in my 1911 using a max load of Bullseye. That's what's in it now, it's my "just in case I need it" load!

Thanks for the input guys, looks like it'll be the tc. Now have to decide if I want the tl or standard lube groove. Decisions, decisions :)

TL is a bit of a dog. I like the grooved version. But I HITEK coat all of mine.

Lee has the 452230 RN TL also. That is my favorite in 45acp.

Regular lube groove for me! I still tumble coat with BLL.

I just got my Lee 6-cavity 452-230-TC mold, (size to .451", lube thru Lyman lube-sizer) and have had pretty good results with function,, reliability, and accuracy in my 1911 SA. I used a mild load of 5.1 grains of HP-38 powder. The picture show my results with that bullet.

1+ on the TC, works well in all my 45's

Another vote for the Lee 230gr TC. I have it in TL configuration for both 45 and 9mm. Very pleased with it. Also comes in conventional lube grooves.

I also use the Lee .452 TC in both .45 acp and Colt.

This, runs well in the 1911 and XD, the latter can be picky.
Haven't loaded any in the SAA yet.

Get one each of the LT and standard lube design and see for yourself what you like better. Then buy the 6 cavity mold of the winner.
