Do any of you use Li'l Gun in your Ruger 45 Colts?
I've done a little research & found mixed reviews. Some say it's great. Some have reported erosion in the forcing cone.
I'm looking for loads around 1150fps in my 5 1/2" Blackhawk Convertible with a 260gr SWC. 2400 has worked well for me but I'm about out & have a can of Li'l Gun on hand.

Sure, it works as well as H-110/296. But, it will produce erosion and top strap cutting just like they do.

It won't erode anything UNLESS you push it to max loadings. 1150fps with that boolit is not nearly a max load.

I use it in Ruger Only .45 Colt with great success. 20.5gr behind the Lee C 452-300-RF boolit. I can't give you a charge weight for a lighter boolit because mine will shoot too low to use lighter boolits so the heavy for caliber boolits are all I load for it.

Thanks for the replies! I think I'll give it a try.

You will have to do a LOT of shooting before you see any ill effects such as forcing cone erosion, although some have reported such. FA recommends against it's use. I use it for hunting loads at near max and it works great, very accurate with a 250 XTP and a WLP pirmer. It runs a little faster on my chrony than a similiar percentage of H110.

I don't push it real hard. I'm a bit recoil sensive, my eyes aren't what they used to be so I limit my hunting to 50 yards, & Ozark deer aren't all that big. I've taken one deer with that combo & it worked very well.

This right here.

I've found that erosion is sped up by shooting light for caliber bullets (which I dont do and advise against).

I've shot several pounds of LilGun and havnet noticed any more erosion than with 296, which is still minimal.
