Went to two tire places yesterday to see if they would sell me their used wheel weights. Both places said yes and I went to pick it up today. The first place had almost a half full 55 gallon drum. I offered him $50.00 and he said it was too much and told me to give him $25.00. The next place had a full 5 gallon pail that I got for $25.00. Both places told me that it was too bad I didn't ask a couple weeks prior. The first place had brought a full 55 gallon drum to the scrap yard and I could have had the full barrel. The other place also said they had several buckets that they just sent to the scrap yard. Both said they would be more than happy to have me check after tire changeover season and I could get as much as I want. Never been to these places before, glad I decided to stop.

Here is a "hot" tip whatever you do DO NOT smelt those WW's upwind of the laundry hanging on the line. No amount of lead is worth those repercussion.

Nice score at a good price, something that will go a long way toward making you really popular around there are a few donuts, one of those $5 pizzas at lunch time, or some cold beverages during the warmer months (or in Vermont that is warmer month, singular, you know the one with skeeters and deer flies)

Don't remind me of the deer flies. Worst things ever.

I'll have to bring the guys in some pizza. I have one other place that I was getting my wheel weights from but they also have others who pick them up so it's really hit or miss. This was the first time anyone had asked these two shops for their weights. They had no idea why someone would want them. Not sure how much I'll end up with as the second shop seemed to have much more zinc and steel weights in the bucket. I know I was worried about my trailer's tires as I had a 30 mile drive home.

Longshot - you made out like a Tall Dog. In this age of lack of sources for WW's ... keep the shops a secret and treat them well with a small reward. Congratulations :bigsmyl2:

Good job. Nice score. You went, you asked, you scored. A little effort, a little gas, a little time.

That is how things work. Well done.
