I bought about 200# a couple of days ago, around 150# is this;

He thought it was some type of lino type lead

Take a bar to the scrap yard and ask to have it analyzed or buy a lead tester

Agree with post #2. ONLY way to know.

Sterotype metal as listed in wikipedia is a significantly richer alloy than Linotype. Stereo is 7/15 vs. Lino 5/12 I would certainly get it gunned at the scrap yard or even send a small sample in to one of the people in Swapping and Selling that will test for you. Then you will know for sure.

First impression is Damn that is a good score!

Thanks, the info & links are very helpful. My googlefoo was very weak today, all the imperial results related to lead were imperial sizing wax.
