I find the CZ75 and the CZ97 attracting me to them. Having never shot one I am interested in hearing opinions from those of you who have either. Thanks,

I just picked up another 75B after foolishly selling my last one. I haven't shot the new one yet. With the old one I was accurate shooting a metal swing target. I could hit the swinger almost every time as it topped off on the upswing. [emoji3]
Good times, those. [emoji1360]
I highly recommend the steel-framed version.

What do you shoot now?
Having learned on 1911s, I find the CZ 75s natural & comfortable. The IMI & EAA clones similar. I don't care for the poly frame EAA. I, too, recommend the steel framed CZ.

It is worth trying. If you like it, buy 2.

Love my CZ 75bd and would never consider selling it. The grip on the CZ 75bd is a bit big, because of the doublestack magazine, but I can still get a decent grip on it. I have never seen the CZ 97b, but if the grip size is no bigger than the CZ 75bd, I would buy it in a heartbeat.

I've had nothing but a good experience with the CZ-75
Gone "bang" every time I pulled the trigger and points fairly naturally to me. The friend who owns it never plans on selling it.

Another point in its favor in my view is that the Israeli's cloned it for their own use.

LOVE my CZ-75B in 40 S&W. It remains the most accurate 40 S&W pistol I have ever fired, and I ran a BUNCH of 40s at work for many years. FWIW, the CZ-75s in 40 S&W of my pistol's vintage (c. 2005) have a 1-16" twist rate instead of the usual 1-10" or 4 turns/meter found in most 40s. Lots friendlier for cast bullets, and my grooves are right on the dot @ .400", throat is .4005" or so. Castings sized .401" run great, 92/6/2 alloy and BW/Alox 50/50 lube.

I have an older cz 52 in 7.62x25 and it is a great gun, and those rounds fly fast, I mean FAST

I have a CZ75B Omega and a CZ 75 P-07 Duty. They represent a good value in a firearm. The Cz75B Omega has a problem with cast bullets. The bore slugged at .3565 so I went with a .358 bullet. The rifling extends all the way to the chamber so that a .358 bullet hits the rifling. The contact shaves a little lead off the bullet and after 30-40 rounds a round will not chamber. As I write this the barrel is sent off to have the chamber reamed to accept lead bullets. The p-07 does not have this problem.
Both guns function with the above exception flawlessly and accurate. I am old fashion and do not like the plastic grips on the CZ75. I also like the CZ97.

OP: do you know any gun smiths that could fix the trigger of CZ75? After the "negative travel" of the hammer is fixed and all the right surfaces are polished.... THEN CZ really shines as a shooter.

I have a 75B and had a trigger job done by CZ Custom in Scottsdale AZ. It is fantastic. I never slugged the bore and I shoot Lyman 358242 (120 & 90), and 356402 and the Lee 356-120-TC and 356-125-2R all sized .358. It's a one-hole punch if I do my part. People complain about the short chamber in the 75B but I have find that the COAL's listed in the Lyman CB HB work just fine. I put a Hogue grip on mine.

I have a 2014 CZ 97B "E" model from Cajun Gunworks. It is an awesome shooter. The grip on the 97B is "deeper" than the 75B and I found the factory aluminum grips to thin for me. I got some beefier grips that fill my hand. Tried the Hogue grip on the 97 but it really doesn't fit. Really like the Layman 452630 over Promo 4.5 gr. @ 825 fps.

If I had a new 75B today I'd have the trigger work done at Cajun Gunworks. David is a pleasure to do business with.

I had a CZ40P which is a CZ75 De-Cocker Variant in .40S&W made specifically for the Czech Police. Great gun, very accurate, but the Manual of Arms for that gun was too complicated to learn on so I sold it and bought a Glock.

I could go back now and shoot that gun well as I have learned everything well, but a De-Cocker is just to complicated to do clearing drills and such you will find in shooting schools nowadays.

I did several mods to the gun including a Steel Guide Rod, and a Trigger job. The gun was not easy to work on that deep and I almost was crying trying to get the trigger mechinism back together. I really worked up a sweat doing it. It did make a huge difference in both the SA and DA trigger pulls.

Anyone who doesn't think CZ guns are among the best there is, hasn't looked, I have two CZ82's in 9mm Makarov They are delightful to shoot and easy to hit with. They are also much easier to work on, I have completely refinished one and will do the other soon. They require very little TLC and a new paint job that's all. Very underrated as are all the CZ's.

Those Czechs make good guns! They have a lot of good looking women too.

A friend and I both own the 85 Combat model and it doesn't have the Decocker, but it's got a sweet trigger on it, even better than the 75 model. It also comes with the target sights and for a price that won't break the bank.
If you want similar performance to the SP-01, you should take a long hard look at the Combat model.
His next purchase is the SP-01 and mine will be the 97.

The 75 is a good gun go for it.

The CZ's are good pistols. My old 75 was accurate and reliable. I sold it during a moment of weakness and have often regretted that bone headed move. They are a bit heavy due to their all steel construction. I don't mention that as a negative, just an observation. I would consider a full size CZ as a range pistol or a competition pistol as opposed to a CCW.

I've got a CZ-97b, an older one that I purchased new, SN A12xx. It came with checkered walnut grips. These have a full length dust cover and are kind of boxy but nice looking. My impressions are: accurate, heavy, solid feeling, less felt recoil than a 1911. Can carry cocked and locked like a 1911 if so desired. Has the same long reach to the trigger so many double action semi-autos have, but not an issue if cocked and locked. So why do I like the 1911 better? I don't know. Maybe because if you carry cocked and locked it negates the double action feature of the CZ as being an advantage. Extra mags were hard to find, and expensive. I've kept it because I have a collection and it's kind of unusual. You didn't ask about CZ-52 pistols, and although I see the subject was broached I'll skip it for now, except to say that I have a couple of them also. I've never owned an actual CZ-75, but did own an Italian clone, a TA-90. It had an awful trigger pull, wasn't very accurate, and was a bit of a jammer.

No regrets for either my CZ's.Having an option of doing it over,I'd still buy both and don't expect to sell or trade either.

I have a CZ75b stainless in 9mm and of all the double action autos I have owned I like and shoot it the best. I've owned sigs, glocks, and I have shot a few others but the CZ is the one I have shot the best. Im really a 1911 man but I allow this CZ to have a home in my safe. Al

I bought one of the surplus CZ-82's in 9x18 mak and a fun gun to shoot and accurate. If I had known about the CZ pistols beforehand I would have bought one of them instead of the Baretta 92FS. Shot a friends CZ and really liked it. Frank

I have a ta90 (clone) and a CZ 97. Both are well liked here although if your hands are not big you may not like the 97. Very comfortable grip shape and angle. The 97 will shoot right with my gold cup and isn't nearly as ammo picky. I don't see a person going wrong with a CZ. Highly recommended.

I have a CZ85 and (this may be sacrilegious) like it even better than a Browning Hi Power. This CZ is easily the most accurate 9mm I have ever had.

Not meaning to hijack this thread, but.....

I have a CZ-75 compact that I really like. A guy at work has a CANIK 55 Stingray C and is willing to sell it for about half of what a new CZ-75 costs. It looks to be a duplicate of the CZ-75 compact. I have even tried one of my CZ-75 magazines in it and it works (I did not shoot it). The CANIK looks well machined and solid. I understand it is from Turkey or someplace nearby.

Anyone have any experience with the CANIK?

Ola
02-19-2016, 02:04 AM
Not with Canik but Sarsilmaz (http://www.sarsilmaz.com/en-us/mega-siyah/676/page.aspx)(the other CZ clone from Turkey). I wasn't impressed. The basic mechanism is the the same, but the quality (work, materials) just isn't there. And the accuracy.. very poor (6" @ 25 yards) compared to a typical CZ.

In my experience buying a Turkish CZ-clone might be a good idea if:
-prize is very low
-you don't plan to shoot it a lot
-you can't shoot (if you can, the lack of accuracy will frustrate the heck out of you)
-you do not mind if the sights or some other little parts fall off when you shoot it

I am a real fan of CZ's...I have a 75B in 9mm...a 75B in .40 cal and a 97B in .45....I used to have a model 83 in .380 but was not a fan of that one...I shoot a Bulgarian Makarov in 9x18 Makarov caliber and prefer it to the 83 hands down.

I don't mess with triggers or springs...and they always perform great...If I need extra magazines I only get Mecgar (OEM) magazines and don't fool with odd ball mags...I've found that CZ's have a little break in time but once they settle in they are dead on and reliable....
