The nurses asked me what color cast I wanted when I was out for the surgery. I told the little hottie to surprise me!

That appears to be your left hand. Hope you're right handed. Surgeries that include pins and/or screws usually mean a longer recovery time. If you're age makes you eligible for the senior discount most places, that means an even longer recovery time.

If you powder coat, you'll have to get some pink so you can be color coordinated.

Now really play with them. Pick up some cheap water color paints at the hobby / craft store and before each visit paint to a diffrent color. LOL Go from pink to green to red to blue ect ect. Is it a plaster cast or fiberglass cast? WHen I broke the ankle a few years ago I didnt get a cast but a splint boot you laced up tight with vencro straps. Was nice since It was supplosed to be loosened or removed for X hours a day. skin didnt dry out as bad and get itchy. Hopefully you heay fast and fully. Those screws and pins can be interesting. they get cold, a bump on one puts the skin between a "rock and a hard place". Buy good gloves after the cast comes off they will be a big help.

I fell a couple weeks ago over a tree. And yes, i'm a lefty. Really a pain in the rear.

It is fiberglass. I already had to add some denim around the thumb and palm as it was digging into the skin. 6 weeks and it is off. Had it on sense Friday and can not stand it already.

Listen shag. I'm married to a nurse. You NEVER tell them to surprise you.

So am I and she has a rye sense of humor too. She does say this though…Pink really looks good on men with some color in their skin, olive or some tan, just not white white skin. She thinks it looks manly and she likes your cast. She said that right after she 'chuckled' about the nurse. "Nurses conspire…I think!"

Tomme it ain't your scratchin' hand or you shootin' hand, so you are good to go!

Any time I have a blood test or get a shot, I tell the nurse to go to my left arm, because the right is my shootin' hand!:redneck:

Heal up quick friend!

Pink does not threaten my masculine energy atall...
 Doesn't bother me one bit to wear it.
Of course, I wouldn't wear the fleece pictured below as it wouldn't...*conform to my figger*

I think I'd turn the cast into pink camo in my spare time.

Best to you for quick and proper healing!

6 weeks is a walk in the park. Did 16 weeks with a very similar cast and pins drilled through the wrist. Did that when I was a young adult.

Went to the orthopedist when I was 50. He said, no wonder your wrist and thumb hurt. You've got a lot of arthritis in there. I said, "How much?" He said, "If these x-rays were all I had to go by, judging by the arthritis I see, I'd say you were at least 70 years old.

Don't mean to minimize your injury, but a year from now you'll think of this as just a speed bump in your life. Sorry it's your strong hand.

Hope you have someone around to give you some extra special attention and maybe cook your favorite foods to cheer you up.

If it was me,,, "HONEY, I'm in the mood for a 2 inch thick rib eye. Could you throw one on the broiler for me?"

When I was put in this funky hard plastic cast/brace(I could slip it off 2 hours a day) the ortho doc asked if I wanted pink... I asked if he had camo!

My wife had a cast on her leg in the summer. After a few weeks it got to itchin' real bad and was hot. I took out a hand powered drill and put a bunch of 3/4 inch holes in it. She said it helped a lot. I had to be real careful drilling that. The doctor was impressed.

Pretty lucky only having to wear it 6 weeks. Last time I broke my left forearm it was 2 weeks in a half cast followed by 6 months in a cast. At least it'lll be off during the summer months. Best wishes for a quick mending.
