I use this version for my Garand. It allows for a better adjustment on the gas port.

Interesting mods.

I had an old friend who was an M1 master armorer back in the late 50s/ early 60s. They used standard plugs with a drilled hole so they could use WW 180 gr. Match bullets.

My boys have been thoroughly drilled on the subject of proper Garand fodder.

Persoanlly I dont buy into the one size fits all that Garand Gear sells. I prefer the adjustable gas screw

When I first picked up my garand I was a few mouse clicks away from ordering one of these. Their test rig and data looked just fine. It's a cute idea to hollow out the gas plug effectively making it an accumulator for the gas cylinder.

If you cant trust your kids to use the rifle correctly please sell it or give it to someone who can and will.

I don't see the point of a gas plug between surplus ammo, garand specific loads in new commercial ammo and reloading there is no reason why you need a special gas plug. Adjustables are fine if you buy a large amount of one lot of ammo. Other than that you would need to adjust it for each different specific load of ammo you buy.
Garand gears offerings is at least a bit less forgiving.
Then again its not hard to feed it proper food.

there are ome pretty stout loads here and no mention of special gas plugs...

LUCKYDAWG13 ,
I mean No disrespect so please don't misunderstand.
Maybe spend the forty bucks on some history lessons, and he'll learn to love and RESPECT the old girl and won't need the plug.

If 40$ eases your worry then by all means get one.
