Which style of boolit do you prefer to use in your semi-auto pistol, concerning feeding and accuracy? Any additional comments are always welcomed. Thanks guys!

Depends upon the caliber.

In the .45 ACP the H&G #68 200-grain SWC is hard to beat. Stick to what works.

In the .32 ACP and .380 ACP a rounded flatnose, heavy for the caliber is most reliable in feeding and has better penetration than hardball. Hollowpoint bullets which are fragile enough to expand don't have adequate penetration and the truncated cone bullets with large meplat tend to be a "jam-O-Matic."

I use the Accurate 31-087T in the .32 ACP and the 36-125T in the .380.

I like truncated cone boolit in my autos. But I agree with Outpost, if I can get a nice SWC to feed and shoot properly, the bigger the meplat, the better.

SWC, hands down!

It all depends on the handgun and its intended use.

If restricted to lead in the 9mm, I vote for the truncated cone as it's reliable and accurate in just about every 9mm that I've ever tried it in.

On the other hand, I'm a firm believer in the proper tool for the job, so for lead boolits in the old 45 Auto, I like the SWC designs for paper or steel.

For a duty load for law enforcement or self defense, a jacketed HP is the tool of choice.

No problem with any of those.

I cast and load both. RCBS 45-225-RN. Lee 452-230-TC. Both work flawlessly through my Colt and S&W. I do prefer the look of that Lee, but don't like the beveled base much.

Depends on the firearm I am loading for. They all have a place on my bench.

I voted for the hollow point, if you can get one that will reliably feed in a carry gun. I use lfn when hunting.

I don't have any round nose molds so I don't load any. For my 9s I use a 125 gr RNFP, and my 45 ACP, 38/357s, .44 magnums digest SWCs. Has anybody seen/know of a SWC for 9mm? Mebbe a 125 gr.? Ala H&G 68? I could size some .38 Specials, if I had a smaller mold (I only have 150 and 109 gr. SWC molds)...

TC w/ HP :)

well I misread the question. I voted other but it was for a 9mm. In my 9mm I only load the TC bullet. In my 32 long, roundnose and in my 38, semi wadcutter.

I'm not sure you would call a Ranchdog 100gr 380acp boolits a TC but I've loaded many thousands of them. Now the 40S&W I've only loaded maybe 500 Lee TC 175gr boolits but have loaded many thousands of Rainer and Berry 160gr ish boolits. May it be TC, RB or there hollow point(which ever is cheaper at the time)design. The only RN nose boolits I load are for a wheel gun so guess that doesn't count.

I would love to load a SWC in 45acp some day when I get one :)

SWC most accurate

T/C for 40SW, RFN for 9. Flat nose makes seating much easier, those RN 9s are terrible to get straight. Meplat for hunting and nice holes for paper. I can't hit much of anything >50 yds anyway (pistol). Drop @ 25 for T/C is almost nothing. My 3 S/A feed them fine.

Different semi autos, different bullets.

I prefer Round Flat nosed boolits, but also like 45 Cal SWC's as well for paper punching. Trunicated cone boolits are ok, but if I am shooting a boolit with a flat meplate I want it as wide as I can get to feed 100% and for me that is usually a RF in my 45's Glocks and Springfields.....Mike

Outpost75 had the right idea. It all depends on the weapon and the purpose. Paper punching is a lot different than self defense. Each weapon seems to have it's preference, you just need to find it and that goes for projectile and load.

I favor TC but if all I have cast is RN, that's fine too.

Truncated cone just look more business like. I have loaded some SWC boolits in the 9mm, out of a WWII surplus Walther P-38 they functioned and grouped just fine , and cut nice clean target holes. Lee 358-105-SWC and Lyman 358345 , sized .357 , both are listed as SWC and work in 9mm Luger.

In the 40 S&W, truncated is the best for jacketed. I think it's the most popular. In lead I like a 185 g. round nose.
