I know this has been done before by members but having trouble finding specific info.
Being cautious before I attack the mold with a tap and die.

What have you guys found to be the best thread size/ stop screw (Home Depot?) similar to the accurate molds stops?

Did you choose to stay with metric or go imperial?

Thank you for your time

I like to use 1/4 -28 or 10-32 screw sizes on my molds. I'm working with aluminum mainly. I've seen a few molds with 8-32 stop screws as well.

If the mold has metric screws I'll drill/tap for a metric. Standard I'll use a standard screw. Mixing standard and metric together on the same assembly makes my head hurt and more apt to swear. My MP molds came with a M4 (m6 would work too) flat point cross set screw on the sprue screw but I always add a chip of copper wire under it to prevent thread damaged. On standard molds I'll usually use an 6-32 or 8-32 flat point set screw and put the same copper chip under it. I try to keep the number of wrenches needed to remove all the screws on one mold low.
