Today was one fantastic day!!!!
I traded off my IAB Sharps straight across for a BRANDY NEW IN THE BOX
Marlin 1895 Cowboy!!!!!!!!! YEEEHAAAAA!
Now I can hardly wait to go shoot it.
I'm starting out using some Lee 405 gr hollow base bullets. In Federal and Winchester brass, Federal 210 primers.
Do you guys have any suggested loads to try?
Prior to this time I was shooting strictly blackpowder in the IAB.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I am shooting that bullet in the standard length barrel .

I honed out a .457" sizer to .460" . The Marlins like big bullets . These shoot fine sized to .460" .

God bless

WyrTwister,
My sizer is .459 Lyman. How did you hone yours out???
I'm going to try .459's first just for ducks and try some Trailboss powder.

I have a 1895CB I purchased when they first came out !

Mine is quite satisfied with bullets sized .459" , matter of fact it is very partial to the Lyman 330 grain HP PB bullet !

It also likes both of the Ranch Dog bullets ! And seems to shoot the 425 grainer just a tad better !

I shoot these bullets mostly with XMP5744 , but SR4759 works well also .

6Pt,
Thanks for the info.
Hopefully I'll get some loaded tomorrow night. I have both XMP 5744 and SR4759.
I'll try them along with Trailboss.

Took a wooden dowel rod and cut a split in the end with a hack saw . put emery cloth in the split and spun the dowel rod with an electric drill motor .

Hone a little then run a bullet through it . Measure the bullet . Repeat as necessary until you get to the size you want .

God bless

For a very soft load , about 1150 fps with 405 grain bullets , 13.5 - 13.6 grains of Unique .
