Need two stainless hole plug screws for my TC Grey Hawk. I removed the rear sight and installed a tang mounted Peep sight. Called Smith and Wesson and they do not have any in stock

Specs on on screw is as follows 6-48X thread, and .090 is the height, stainless and slotted.

Thanks

Have you checked at Brownells?

.

I would suggest just using conventional blued filler screws (if you don't have any, most gunsmiths should have a bunch left over from scoping customer's rifles) - but anyone that didn't like the contrasting color/ effect could always simply buff the bluing off the screw heads (just oil them ever once in awhile).

Ahi I search on Brownels didn't see anything, ace hardware and fastenal only had 6-32 and 6-40 thread so I'll check some of my local gun shops. I also have an d Bysnell scope with some home plug screws that may work. Thanks for the help.

I keep all the plug screws from scope installations and yes, just remove the blue.

Well I called Smith and Wesson middle of last week. They didn't have any in stock but said they would send me some as soon as they came in....which they didn't have a timeframe for. Well they showed up today! Gotta like that service.

A LGS that mounts scopes should have a bunch.

I know this is a little late,,, but one place I've found tiny screws, washers, etc. is a hobby shop that sells a lot of RC models & repair parts. I stocked up when I was in one shop that was closing & selling out.

If you can't get the screws just use a wax crayon that is a similar color to the barrel (black or silver) and rub it into the hole and burnish it with a piece of leather or course cloth. It will fill the hole and be barely noticeable, you can use a heat gun or hair dryer to remove the wax should you decide to put the sight back.
