I hear that m95 conversions to .444 Marlin have a fairly good record of success, given that the rim and case body dimensions are workably close to those of 8x56mmR.

I've gotten it in my head that I need a repeater in .445sm. Is this conversion feasible?

If so, what would be involved.

I'm presently searching for an M95 with no stock, a ruined stock, and/or a ruined barrel for this conversion.

If it's feasible, who's a good smith I should consult for this kind of work?

Buckshot's write up of his conversion to 30-40 Krag touches the bases.
You want as close a possible to existing case and be careful of the extractor as they ain't making 'em anymore.

The enbloc clip either has to work with the new cartridge (with minor tweakage)
or you have to do a conversion to the M95M (8x57) feed system with a permanent modified clip in place to present at the right angle to the bore.

And of course rebarrel and give a trigger job.

You see 444, 30-40, 7.62x54R conversions but nothing so short as 445 super mag.

Not saying it can't be done but you will have issues getting into the chamber.

I thought about a 7x57R or 8x57R for one but never pursued as you can get 8x56R
stuff now - just hard to find the enbloc clips

I know a guy that lives in Indiana that built a single shot in 445 SM on a Steyr 95 rifle. It was a good match for IN's deer gun legal choices. He didn't say whether he tried to make a repeater or just decided to keep it simple and single feed it. He was able to reshape the original stock to a really nice slim pistol grip and it looked good.

I bought a Steyr 95 about 5 years ago with the idea to make it a 410 shotgun with a rifled barrel but OH changed the legal deer guns to include many strait walled centerfire rounds in a rifle so I forgot about that project.

I think your idea is worth trying !
