For those of you that don't like Lee's factory crimp die for straight walled pistol cases Lee is making the collet crimp die for some of them.
I was cruising Ebay and found one for the 44 Mag. I checked on the Lee website and they are making these dies for 44 mag, 45 Colt, 460 and 500S&W, 357 Mag. They list the 357 Herrett, 41 Mag and 45 Blazer under custom overruns.
They list them at $15.98 each. The three custom overruns may be more. On Midway they sell for $17.98 including s/h. Ebay $17.99 with s/h.
I got one coming off Ebay.
I think this one will work much better than the carbide version did. I have one and don't like it. It resizes the whole case as well as crimps. This leaves cast boolits loose in the case.
When it comes in I'll give it a try and report back.

Here's what I did with mine in .44 mag and .45 Colt:

So apparently they have been making these collet type crimp dies for awhile. When I found them on Ebay I thought it was something new.
When I get the one I ordered I'll look at modding it like you did.

RanchDog was having them made by Lee and reselling them on his website along with his RanchDog style molds for several years.

I have a couple .357 collet dies and like them a lot.

Does it leave those funny groove marks around the case mouth like factory rifle has? Don't think I would like that, but I need to do something because several of my .500 S&W rounds won't chamber in my Handi rifle because the bullet buldges the case while seating it. Some say a crimp die may fix this? I just don't know which one to get? They don't make a regular factory crimp die for the .500 only the steel collet style.
