G'Day All
I recently got a 1894cl in 32/20 and have been trying different things. Anyway the other day my mate Toad and me were benching some loads for Cowboy Silhouette and I shot a 11/2 group using a Lyman 311316 with 5.5 unique. Thinking that will do I started to fire off the other test loads I had (same bullet 13grns 4227). I fired 5 shots of a load and the toad was watching through the spotting scope told me to stop. I said "no I'll get rid of the rest of them", the next shot was 80fps faster (the others were 1720+/- 10fps. Then I fired off the last 4 loads. I ended up with a 9 shot group .940" with 1 shot 1" high. Guess which one!!! Anyway with peeps and post I was happy:-D. The problem is I borrowed the mold and I have to give it back:(, looks like I'm on the hunt for one to have and to hold till death do us part.

Ramslammer,

311316 show up every now and again on ebay. Try the 311008/sized .313/small rifle primer/ 4.5 - 5.5 g Unique. My 1894 CL likes it just a little bit better than the 311316. I have a BF Pistol 10" 30-20 that is the opposite, it loves the 311316.
The 311008 is available @Midsouth

I have a pair of 311316 moulds . I first got a single cavity off ebay and then later a brand new 2 cavity appeared so I got it as well !

That was about 2 years ago now !

At one time I was thinking of selling the single cavity , but I think I'll just keep it and possibly convert it into a HP mould !

218 BEE I'm hearing what your saying but you don't do that (wish I didn't have morals), Jon I could run a slow load with a 311008 but I want to use the rifle shooting Wallaby as well as for Cowboy Silhouette. 6pt sika I also have looked at hollow pointing different molds, I reckon that you need to clock up the cavity and use a centre drill to start it. Maybe one day I'll give it a go.

I've thought of doing that with a number of moulds myself ! Mainly the 321297 , 338320 and 311316 [smilie=1:

Also a two cav has appeared. There was one last week but he wouldn't take o/seas bids, so I lined up a mate of a mate to bid and he forgot.

The 311316 is my favorite 32WCF mould. FWIW- The Lee Soup Can is similar. If you get one that casts fat enough it might work as well.

Strangely enough--I've owned 32-20 revolvers and rifles for a very long time, but have never owned a Lyman #311008 mould. Jon K kindly gave me some samples a few weeks back, and I'm finally getting around to assembling them at present into Starline cases using his Unique data.

I was lucky enough to score a #311316 a couple years ago, and it is my "go to" boolit for the 32-20 in the rifle. My Lee Soup Can barely makes .311", but that is no slam on the Lee mould--that is its "target" design diameter.

I'm just going to have to keep looking for that elusive 311316. Track it done and trap it, never to be released back to the wild.

Got some bad news today. My shooting mate Toad just got a 32/20 as well. I'm going to have to share bullets. Wish I had of bought that 4 cav I saw advertised before.

You guys wanting a 311316 might want to look at the NEI #'s 74 and 81. They're 115 gr gas checked bullets, one that throws at .312 and the other at .313. I wanted a gas checked bullet for hot 32-20 loads in my Ruger revolvers, but couldn't find a Lyman 311316 and got the NEI #74 (.312) in a four cavity. It really shoots good in my revolvers with either 12 grs of IMR4227 or 14.5-15.5 grs of H110. Might hold you over till you find the Lyman, I don't even bother to look for one anymore.

I already use some nei's and I like them so it may be a option. I'm also considering one of our local CBE molds. I've got a 85gn GC mold for the 32/20 from him.

I won that bid and had to go to $82.00 to get it. I sure hope it was worth it. J.Michael

Well done on the bid, I was very disappointed when I found out it wasn't mine. But that's the way it goes. If your rifle shoots that bullet as well as mine you will be very happy. I used it with slow loads and fast and it performed well with both.

You won't regret it. CBE moulds are GREAT.

bullets with the new mold and about 300 with the new 38/55mold. Tomorrow I load . I was sizing for two days. If I could find a way to cast and have someone else size I would have it made. I don't like sizeing !!!!! Anyway I have a silhouette Match Sunday and I have not yet made a loaded round for either gun. Heck, I just mounted the Lyman Peeps this weekemnd. I hope I make it. Wish me luck, J.Michael

Well I'm as happy as a dog with a tin d@#k!!!!!!!!!! I finally got a 311316 in unused still wrapped condition. Sorry Uncowboy it cost $71. So now I can return the borrowed set and start casting with my own, maybe I won't lend it to The Toad so I have the advantage at the Silhouette matches. Good plan but he will just nick it anyway:groner:!!
First Match with the 32/20 on the weekend and I managed a 28 in CLAPC tied with the Toad but we both only got equal third. Winner shot a 35 and second a 30. The new casties show some potential.

You're the one :groner:

I bid $71 at the same time you did and you beat me by a second I think . And it didn't leave me enough time for a second bid !

I thought it would be good to have a pair of these in two cavity versions to knock out my silhouette bullets quicker !

Sorry about beating you, if your sorry for running the price up lol . I actually only had 70 on it and decided at the last minute to ring a mate to put the extra on as we were at the Cowboy shoot.
