1 1/4 - 18 to 5/8 - 30 bushing

Assuming these were made by Lyman ? A 310 die threads in to it but what press has a
1 1/4 - 18 hole in it? Figured someone here might know. Thanks for any help.

A lot of presses have a adapter threaded into the top. The hole this adapter is threaded into is 1 1/4 x 18. The hole in the adapter is threaded for regular 7/8's dies.
You would remove this adapter to thread that adapter in. Not a real easy task.
If you want an adapter for the 310 or Tru-line JR tools, they make one that fits in the hole the 7/8's dies thread in.

Oh, I think that large hole was for shotgun loading dies. Not sure on that.

The CH4D Champion is threaded 1-¼" - 18. Newer makes of presses take 1-1/4" - 12. CH4D makes dies for both thread pitches. Some dies are large calibers, not sure which shotgun dies may work.

Thanks for the replies, ended up with 2 of them and wondered what press they would fit.

I do know that there was an adaptor made by Herters for their shotgun die station on their metallic press. AFAIK, they never made the smaller dies at Herters, but I guess they figured the market was there for the crossover use of the Lyman/Ideal dies. I've been collecting and examining both Lyman and Ideal tools and accessories for about 40 years or so and I've never even heard of the adaptor you ask about, and I think I would have seen it if it were out there... I guess 44magLeo was right when he said you were expected to use the two adaptors Lyman made together if you wanted to step down from the shotgun station to the 310 tool die size.

I doubt it would matter but the Lyman isn't 5/8 x 30. It's really close though. The ones I've measured are about .605. It would only matter if someone asked a machinist to make something with that thread. Then it would.

Luger American press is 1 1/4 "- 10. The dies are for shotgun, with adapters down to 7/8-14 or .605-30
