A range officer told me his best IDPA load was 4.5 gr of Autocomp. He neglected to tell me if he was shooting cast or jacketed. Is autocomp specifically made for cast or jacketed.

I ran through a whole pound in my Glock 17 using pc'ed Lee 125 gr bullets. It did just fine. I did notice more muzzle flash than I normally get with Win 231 but other than that I really didn't see much difference.

About half a pound used in 9mm and 45acp, hornady jackets, extreme plated and bayou tech coat all good.

Wasn't Autocomp developed to increase gas pressure at the muzzle and thus increase the efficacy of compensators on pistols equipped? If so, that might explain the extra flash that you get. The powder's name seems to indicate that at any rate.

Yes, its designed for use with a compensator, but when it's all you can find you have to use what you can get. I bought it to compare to HS6, I still like HS6 better.

I use autocomp in my open compensated guns, as mentioned makes more gas to work the comp.
