It looks like Henry Repeating Arms will be introducing a new/different levergun this Summer.

Similar in form & function to the Browning BLR, but not the same exact gun.

20-inch round polished & blued barrel, detachable STEEL flush-fit box mag, gear-driven action, 6-lug rotary bolt lockup, in-hammer-face sliding transfer bar "safety", matte-finished hard-anodized receiver, checkered walnut, solid rubber pad, trigger does NOT travel with lever, 7 pounds empty, side ejection, initially offered sightless for scope mounts.

First-to-thread with the inevitable .358Win suggestion, lol. ;)

Wonder how many are going to have primer strikes since most off the shelf ammo is pointed. Or am I just keeping up an old wives tail?

It looks to be a box magazine fed rifle, so there is no limitations on type of ammo of projectile other than what length will fit the magazine.

Outer Rondacker I believe that you're right that normally spitzer bullets are an issue, However, I know there was a tube magazine fed lever action, in 30-30. Where instead of lining up, nose to primer, they canted each round so the nose was pushing against the edge of the tube and the rim was against the body of the next cartridge. Last I was looking at this I came across patent drawings that showed how it worked. I thought it was fairly ingenious.

ah, found it https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Remington_Model_14 But I think Henry is going for a box mag. Simpler solution.

It looks good to me.

Probably be a good rifle and it makes sense, but I really do not like short barrels on cartridges of that nature. I really am not fond of them in the tube magazine offerings. They work, others like them, probably don't matter but I don't like them. Had the same thing against the later Savages that were cut back to carbines. Obviously it is designed as a scoped rifle and iron sights may not be desirable as it does not have enough drop at the comb, kind of like some of the later Remington pumps and semi autos I looked at.
Enough negative stuff, Henrys are good rifles and it would not be all that bad of an all around rifle. If I wanted to sue one rifle for all my deer hunting it would be a sound choice.

As per my OP: it will have a flush BOX (and not a tube) magazine.

AFAIK, the only tube magazine fed rifle which offset the boolit noses in the magazine was the Remington Model 14 & Model 141, which had spiral flutes pressed into the magazine tube.

Looks like a woods walker to me. Hope the performance reports are good.

Those gears never endeared me to the Browning.

BLR in 308 is the most accurate lever gun I have ever fired and will be the last to leave my hands. If they can come close to it's accuracy at a lesser cost they may have a market. I would drop 223 for the rest of the 308 family, 260 Rem, 7mm08, 338 Fed and 358 Win.

Ah yes box mag would solve the problem. But I guess they had that covered. I knew there is a reason I didnt like the look of that gun. Its not for me.

I like it, although my own BLR .308 has me spoiled pretty good. I hope extra mags don't cost $75.00 each.

It's going to have to be priced pretty competitively to compete with the Browning BLR. The Browning is a little pricey, but a proven performer while Henry has a somewhat spotty reputation. I've got an early Belgian BLR and they will have a hard time competing with the quality and accuracy of that rifle.

What is spotty about henrys reputation?

^^^ Nothing.

As I mentioned in another thread, it would be nice if the Henry is not a science-project like the BLR to re-assemble.

Put iron sights on it and make it in .358 and this may well be a must have for me. I like the rounded fore end and overall lines of this one.

Looks like a Browning alright, but just a bit different in just the right places.
I like the flush mag. for sure.

Anybody know what the twist rate in .308 will be?

.223 gives another option for AWB states to have a quick rifle in a common and effective rifle caliber, now that Remington doesn't seem to want to make the 7615p

If they made it compatible with AR mags that would be a must have, AW ban or not!

338 Fed and 358 win would make this a cool elk rifle. I like the looks of it!

Here is a thread from Paco's site with an actual T&E user. Sounds very promising.

Yeah, if they budget it right I'll sell off my AR10 gear (what, you don't buy mags and bullets on sale for guns you don't have?!) and buy one. It'll never replace a JM-stamped Marlin as as a budget gun, but it might convince me to retire it to the trunk...
