I was looking at a Summit today and it looks like there is almost enough room for a 50 BUT... if you removed the ram from the stock/mfg base and made your own base... I am almost certain that you could load 50 BMG on it. The ram is similar to a hollywood ram and the press is pretty smooth and has lots of leverage for all but full resize of 50. Anybody else out there consider this? It would be a minimal initial investment and may prove to be a great 50 solution. I am tempted to give it a try. Any advice or ideas welcome! Thanks! Max

RCBS says it won't work for 50. You can use Lee dies in it but not standard 1-½" 50 BMG dies. I believe the ram needs to be taller. I know of a person who uses Lee 50 dies in a Redding Ultramag.

Take care

Ammomaster is the way to go. If you wear it out or break it RCBS will replace it for free. My casting cracked off the bench after heavy use and got the parts sent out for free. Can any one beat that lifetime guarantee?

1 1/2 50 bmg dies may be to tall for the handle to clear when cycling. The summit and co ax have this issue with some tools.

If you can afford the bmg, you can afford proper tooling. Lee CC will work, but in reality, it is not the correct tool for the job. Get an Ammomaster or the Hornandy equivalent.

Nothing to add to the OP question but for those of you who load 50 BMG. How much does it cost you to make a round assuming you already have the brass?

I have bought API and tracers at Knob Creek for as little as $.06 if I bought 10,000 pieces. Hornady A Max are $2.50 each at Cabelas. Primers are about $.30 each. 200 to 220 grains of powder. Just depends on what you are loading for.
