When I was young and fur was a good price I sometimes ran a trap line. I learned to never be surprised at what you might catch but this is a first for me.158739

I see the bait is all gone, so there must be a smart mouse still running around. probably told his two brothers they could go first.

Got two myself once. Reset the trap and still got another. Think there were only three.

I did the reverse. Got one last night the same size. About 3/4 grown. Probably litter mates.

Once got 5 or 6 on a glue trap in a night. I'd hear a rustle, go wack the newest member of the club in the head and replace the trap.

Thank God we don't have a mouse problem. We have a ground squirrel problem, wish I was as successful at catching those critters.

Well! I got home from work and emptied my trap, reset it and about the time I sat down I heard it go off. Another double!
That makes 7 in the last couple days. All the same size, about 3/4 grown. How big are mouse litters?
The little woman doesn't like mice! She's not happy. Maybe she needs a new pair of mouse gloves.

Got three in the same trap in about two hours last week. Nothing since. Bait was cotton string soaked in sausage grease tied around trigger.

Yes I'll think I'll have to keep working. At least thru another trapping season. Unless the price of mouse fur would go up.
How many mice does it take to make a ladies full length coat?

3254, but you're going to have to start catching bigger mice. Those little ones won't bring full price.

The fur is not very prime either. I think it's too warm under the fridge. Bet the ones in the barn are haired up a lot better.

I used to say, "The early bird gets the worm, and the second mouse gets the cheese." I'm going to have to change the saying to the THIRD mouse gets the cheese (peanut butter).

I learned by accident that a mouse can get inside an empty 2litre soda bottle...... but can't get back out.

Several years ago I won the most successful hunter out of 11 hunters in the mountains of Pa. I shot a nice 8pt. buck with my Dad's Ruger 06 and trapped 6 mice.......The others got 2 or 3 for a total hunt (of mice) for 11 or 12.....The camaraderie was what it was all about. Of course cleaning out camp of the pests was a must. afish4570

Pretty soon you'll have enough to make your wife a nice fur coat with. Imagine the elegance. If you leave the tails on you can hang sequins off of them just to add to the glamour. :kidding:

14 so far since I moved into this place mid-April 2015. Thought I was being overrun. My younger sister told me in May she had already got 33 in Dodge City. I was put into my place.

Never more than one in a standard mouse trap. I did use live traps. Once I carried it into the yard the cats gathered for the grand opening. It was exciting. Got to be careful them little varmints don't run up your pants leg. That is REAL exciting with them cats after them.

Best thread ever! Yes

The place I worked at a few years ago in a place north of Pakiland was over run with mice. The people who worked me insisted keeping food in their desk drawers. So it was a surprise to them that they had mice. They found a box of traps and were arguing what was the best bait to use for the little buggers. I told them you don't need no stinking bait. They bet me five bucks I could not catch a mouse without bait. Ha! Easy money. I told them mice are dumb. Put the trap at a choke point along a wall and the mouse will jump right into the trap.

Ten minutes later I was five bucks richer. Maybe that is a world record for the highest price paid for a mouse. Trapping as a kid finally paid off.

Where can I find stretcher boards for mice?:-)

I used to have a semi-feral cat who was an excellent mouser. He'd rather eat a mouse than commercial cat food. He's moved on but another one comes around now and then, a small handful of food 2-3 times a week ensures that. Cat food is a lot more pleasant to handle than mouse traps.

Wish I would have taken a picture a few years back. Local in town called to ask if I could set a trap by kids playhouse. He said there was a skunk living under there. I set a live trap and came back the next morning. I have no idea how a mother, and 5 young ones got in there before they tripped it! The 6th young one was walking around the outside of the trap trying to get in. Looked like a black and white mass inside
