I've got an itch for a Pistol Caliber Carbine so help me scratch it. Tell me your experiences, pros and cons. I'll probably be using it for shooting falling steel at 75 yards so caliber selection is up in the air between 9 and 40. Accuracy and reliability are priorities. I would prefer the AR platform, Glock mags would compliment my sidearms and price should be under 700. KelTec, JR Carbine and Palmetto are on my radar now.

You've basically described a JR Carbine. Decent and reliable from my experience with a friend that owned one. Direct blow back so lead is GTG. Lots of fun, cheap plinking. I've thought about purchasing one but gravitate back towards my PC lever guns in 38/357 and 45 colt. Marlin 1894 models to be more specific.

Beretta CX4 was also fun to shoot. Surplus mags are out there for the 92 mags, but there are 2 versions so beware. One take PX4 mags, the other the 92 mags.

If wanting something short, consider a bull pup. Been resisting the desire to pull the trigger on a Tavor, but not sure for how much longer.

I have a Cx4 Storm by beretta, 9mm and a whole lotta fun. Interchangable mags with my px4.

TNW ASR is sort of a cross between the AR and a Glock. Quick change barrel system, breaks down into 3 pieces and caliber change kits are available.

If price is an issue....look at the Hipoint....my 4095 is fun, reliable and accurate....it is a bit heavier than I'd like though

I mean no disrespect and I do appreciate your reply but the Hi-Point just doesn't appeal to me visually. I would have a difficult time purchasing something that I did not like to look at. I am sure its a great rifle but just not my cup of tea.

I'm looking for the same. So far its the JR carbine that is winning. Do what I did and email glock and beg them to build us a pistol caliber carbine for around 600 bucks. I think theyd sell boat loads of them!

Not an AR lookalike, and not real sure about magazine compatibility, but somebody makes (Chiappa?) a sorta M-1 carbine in 9mm. Might be a lot of fun.

Well, although this is not an AR platform, have you looked at the Mech Tech CCU conversion. Since you are apparently enamored with glocks and have accessories on hand, it would be relatively inexpensive. I have shot these in the old configuration and other than the butt stock being, at that time, was a genuine PITA, the unit function flawlessly and was surprisingly accurate. I suspect with the new stocks it would be much more pleasurable to shoot.

Don't know if you were refering to me igulfat8 but heres my take on it anyway. I'm not willing to disable one of my glocks to get a frame for the mec-tec so id have to buy another gun that I wouldn't want to strip;-) or buy a lower for 300 bucks and would with that have as much into it as a Jr carbine or a aero carbine and both of them can be converted to 40 or 45 for a couple hundred bucks. With the mec tec youd have to buy another upper at 500 bucks. Also I looked for just glock lowers and you don't find the midsized grip frames. Its the full sized and compact grip frames. the compacts are to small for my hand and the large frames would preclude me using all my glock 19 and 23 mags. .
