A friend has a Buffalo Bill Winchester he wants to sell me. He is not sure of a price and I am no Winchester expert. Guessing it is 24~26 Octagon barrel 30-30
Has some handling marks on the wood. Would assume it has been shot. Metal in very good shape. No box.
Just my wild guess would value it around $400. ???
More / Less???

Ten years ago you couldn't giving them away. Prices have come up a lot. $400.00 would be a steal.

I paid $550 for mine - new with no box. Put a Lyman 17a front sight and a Williams peep rear and it makes a great lever gun silhouette rifle.

Funny thing about Winchester commemoratives, they often sell for less money than a similar vintage standard carbine. Many are also rifles and I sometimes prefer that configuration over the carbine. They generally have nice wood and exceptional finish on the metal.

Looked at a Winchester Commerative in the LGS. Opened the action and saw a stamped lifter. Guy that consigned it wanted 700. Looking at the rifle as a shooter and not a collector, I thought good luck. Been kind of looking for a 24 inch barrel 30-30 but not that one at that price.

Probably in the $500 and up range depending on usage marks. A gunsmith friend of mine once said that the Canadien centennials were the more accurate of all the other commeratives he collected and shot that Winchester churned out, go figure!Robert

LGS that I haunt in MI has two of them. I've seen both of them and they are very nice. The one is used (but looks like new) and they have $499.99 on it. The other one is NIB and they have $649.99 on it (it is consigned). Both have been sitting in the rack for a while.
