I want a new HP mold for my 45 cal 1911 and Glock pistols. I want around 200g, plain base, aluminum, with a big HP cavity. I like production, so a four cav would be what I'd be looking for.
NOE has three molds that are in the ball park, (none are in stock), but I'm looking for input from anyone who has any of these....which would you choose?

I'd pick the 454-230-RN for a nose shape most likely to feed without hanging up, plus having 200+ grains of weight. I've shot the solid version of the 453-210-RF and it took some tinkering to get it to feed, while the solid (very round nosed) version of the 454-230-RN fed slickly with no problems.

Thanks for the feedback, that's the one I was leaning toward...anyone else?

I use Miha's mold, Casts 204gr with round or Penta pins, just cast 1000 today, works real good, one of my most used molds. He usually has them in stock, hard to beat his brass molds. I have never had one feeding problem with this boolit.

Couple of thoughts, what do you want it to expand to, how hard are you going to have to push it to get expansion and how soft of an alloy will you need to expand? I stick with solids in the ACP.

I have this one:

But mine is a 2-cavity. I like it, it makes pretty bullets, but to be totally honest I shoot very few HPs anymore. I carry factory ammo when I carry the .45, so, honestly, if I didn't have this mold I'd stick with a flat point of some sort.

I have the NOE 453-210-RF/HP. Don't know if Al still makes it. It is superb in 1911, G30, and CZ97.

OK, it is in the current NOE catalog.

This is the same I use for my 45, but i have NOE for 380 and 44 mag and they rain bullets just as good.

Lots to think about here. I agree a hollow point doesn't always expand as desired...maybe a RNFP would make me just as happy???

Mold has got to be aluminum for something 4 cav, brass is just too heavy.

HP expands=hooray
non-hp never expands=not hooray
HP not expand=not hooray
hp not expand=non-hp
HP expands>non-hp
The problems of the last few years with ammunition availability have prompted me to purchase a number of hollow point molds and to develop useful loads to duplicate factory ammunition that may not be available at a price that I can afford, or may not be available at all for any price. A soft lead boolit hollow point will expand if pushed to the 900-1000 fps range. Now, for practice, any boolit that functions well and shoots reasonably close to point of aim is just fine and may be easier to cast. But I am grateful to MP and NOE for making the multi-cavity hollow-point molds that give me a home-made substitute for the factory stuff whose availability is subject to change.
